The Zoo

We wanted to do something fun together while Brian and Ashley were in town, so on Friday, Walker took the day off work, and we all headed to the zoo. We really weren't planning on taking Austin to the zoo until he was a little older, because we figured he wouldn't care for it much yet, but he really seemed to enjoy the animals. He was pointing at everything...just so many new things to take in.

He was very interested in the meerkats and seemed to think they were pretty funny.

He loved looking at all of the strange new fish in the reptile and fish exhibit. (He left his prints on the majority of the aquariums ;-)

He liked the goats (and would walk towards them) until they got a little too close for comfort. After the initial pet to see what this one felt like, he didn't really care to touch any more.

The Red Panda was a hit.

...as was the Alligator.

By the time we got around to the elephant exhibit, it was pretty hot, and Austin's hair was curling, but he still seemed to be enjoying himself. Especially after a drink of water and a break in the shade.

Austin loved this particular giraffe so much (he was kind enough to come close so that Austin could get a look) that he attempted to jump out of Nonna's arms and over the fence. ;-)We made a quick stop at the lorikeet exhibit on our way out. I think Austin could have stayed in there for hours. He was walking all over the place pointing at the birds and enjoying the mist from the sprinkler.

It was definitely a packed day full of fun and new sights and sounds. By the end of the day, we were all pretty tired, and we barely made it out of the zoo before Austin was conked out in his carseat for the ride home.
