Learning to Share...and much more.

Austin is learning new things faster than I can keep up these days. He just seems to be on a quest to learn. He is constantly pointing at various objects in order for us to say their name, and laughing when we do. He has learned how to tell me when his diaper needs changed....he takes me by the hand and leads me to the changing table. He has also learned to stand up when he doesn't have anything to pull up on. My current favorite new thing he has learned is sharing. A couple weeks ago, he suddenly started offering me a bite of his favorite foods every once in a while...now it happens every meal. (Of course, he will also pull a "fake out" - offer the food and right when you reach out to take it, pop it into his mouth and laugh hysterically ;-) It is the sweetest thing to see the look on his face when he offers one of his prized blueberries (ties with cheese for his favorite food). He cannot say the words "I love you!" yet, but that simple action says it loud an clear. This afternoon we shared a banana for afternoon snack. He sat on my lap, and I would break off pieces for him to eat. After each bite, he would insist on breaking off a piece and feeding it to me. (He also offered me some milk from his sippy cup) It was one of those special mother/son moments that I hope I will remember when we hit the bumpy teen years. ;-)
We have spent several of the past weekends working on a rather large landscaping project. (We are finally getting around to all of the things we couldn't do last year because of Walker's back surgery and Austin's birth) Whenever Walker is working in the yard, Austin loves to sit in his chair and watch through the windows.
Periodically, Austin goes out to check on Walker's progress. The picture below is him examining the wall on his way to the sprinkler. Apparently, he was not happy with the way it was turning out. ;-)
