6 Month Check-up and Update

We took Micah to the pediatrician on Friday for his 6 months check up and shots. He weighed in at 18 lbs 1 oz (56%) and measured 27 inches (69%). Micah is a very healthy (and happy most of the time ;-) 6 month old. Here is an update on what he is up to....

• Micah is getting really close to crawling. He has the stance down and tries so hard, but can only seem to move in reverse for now. In order to go forward he does a series of lunges (this usually happens when he spots one of Austin's toys and is determined to get to it). Because Micah often moves in reverse, he frequently finds himself stuck underneath various pieces of furniture. This is when big brother usually comes to the rescue. ;-)

• We have now entered the wonderful world of fruits and vegetables. Like cereal, Micah wasn't really sure about the new tastes at first, but quickly grew to like them and now eats them like the hungry little boy that he is.

• Sadly, Micah is still not sleeping through the night. I have been trying the cry it out method for about a week now. Micah is a stubborn little guy, so it is taking much longer than expected, but we are slowly seeing progress.

• Micah is beginning to "talk" a lot more. The sounds of cooing, jabbering, motor-boating and squealing are frequent when he is awake.

• Micah and Austin's relationship is growing and it is so neat to watch. You can just see in Micah's eyes how much he adores his big brother and how much he would love to be mobile enough to play with Austin. Although we do have some bouts with jealousy periodically, overall Austin is really sweet with him. He is constantly kissing and hugging on Micah. He is great about getting Micah's paci for him when he drops it, and will run to tell me whenever he thinks Micah needs me in some way. I love that they have each other and pray that their love for each other continues to grow.

• I feeling like I am always dragging Micah around to various activities and appointments for Austin. I have a little bit of guilt about that, but so far he has been an incredible trooper.

• Micah is now in 12 Month clothes. I did not expect that to happen until fall, so I am going to have to search for a store that still carries a few summer items.

• Micah can sit independently for short periods of time. Austin loves to count with me to see how long Micah can sit up and then laughs hysterically when he tumbles over which in turn causes Micah to laugh.
